Training Prerequisites

SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, SDI Jr Open Water Scuba Diver or qualifying certification from another training organization equivalent.


Age Requirements

This SDI course is for ages 18 years and older or SDI junior diver ages 10 to 17 with parental consent.

Depths and Restrictions after Certification

This SDI course does not increase your current certifications maximum depth rating.

SDI Open Water Scuba Divers Ages 15 and Older Are certified to dive to a maximum depth of 18m/60ft

SDI Advanced Open Water Scuba Divers Ages 15 and Older Are certified to dive to a maximum depth of 30m/100ft

SDI Junior Open Water Scuba Divers Ages 10 to 14 are certified to dive to a maximum depth of 12m/40ft

SDI Junior Advanced Open Water Scuba Divers Ages 10 to 14 are certified to dive to a maximum depth of 18m/70ft


Waivers and Liability Releases

All participants will need to have a completed set of liability releases signed and dated prior to any in water training. Participants under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian signatures as well. No exceptions.



Certification Process

To complete the certification proses. The student must complete all performance requirements of the class, including academics, confined water and open water training dives.


Certification Card

Once you complete you course, you are a certified diver. you will have a temporary card good for 30 days. Your permanent card should arrive within 1 to 2 weeks after certification.

Going on a trip? Don’t panic. Your certification card can be accessed by you on your phone anywhere in the world. So even if you forget your card you can still dive.

You can complete this phase through self-study, at your own pace, in the convenience of your home or office.

Steep 2 Get Wet. Confined Water Training Dives

This takes place in a swimming pool or similar body of confined water, under the supervision of an SDI Instructor.

You will need to complete 5 confined water training dives before moving on to the open water environment.

Confined water training dive builds up skills that you have learned from the previous confined water dive. Confined water training dives can be completed consecutively in one day or over a few days.

Typical confined water training environments are pools, Lakes or beach.



Open Water Training Dives

The final step is to complete the required number of SDI open-water training dives under the supervision of your SDI Instructor.

Here you will apply what you have learned during your academic and skill-development sessions, while learning practical lessons that can only be gained through real-world experience in open water.

There are 4 open water training dives that will need to be completed before you can become a Certified SDI Open Water Scuba Diver.

Dive One: Skills demonstration, fun dive and reef exploration.

Dive Two: Skills demonstration, fun dive and reef exploration.

Dive Three: Skills demonstration, fun dive and reef exploration.

Dive Four: Fun dive and reef exploration. Each open water dive is approximately 1 hour, air permitting.

Rental Scuba Gear

We rent all the Scuba gear you will need for your class.

This includes the basic Scuba gear Mask, Snorkel, Fins and major Scuba gear BCD, Regulators and gauges, Tanks and Weights.

(Personal gear Booties and thermal protection not included).


Purchasing Scuba Gear from Us

If you would like to purchase some or all of your Scuba gear for your class we can help. You should always purchase your Scuba gear from the dive center where you do your training.

Your Scuba instructor will make sure you select the proper Scuba gear for your needs. Your instructor will also make sure your Scuba gear is properly adjusted and ready for your class.

Use of Personal Scuba Gear

New Gear

Stops do not go out and purchase Scuba gear from a third-party for your class. This could be an expensive mistake. New Scuba gear always requires minor adjustments and a safety inspection before it is used.

If you have purchased your Scuba gear from a third-party either online or at another dive center and it has a malfunction during your class. You will have to pay to reschedule the portion of the class you missed due to your equipment malfunction.

For this reason it is always best to buy your scuba gear from the dive shop you are doing your training through. Personal Scuba gear used in any of our classes must be up-to-date with service.

Used or OlderGear

We do not accept equipment that is Out of service, unsafe or damaged to be used in any of our programs. Equipment must be serviced annually to be considered in service.

If you have any questions on whether the equipment you have will be acceptable for this program, please contact us prior to class for a free equipment evaluation.
